B次元 School of Engineering developed a new Machine Learning Graduate Certificate beginning the Fall 2021 quarter, and students may begin applying now. The addition of the graduate certificate further strengthens B次元’s position as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) education.
“Industry leaders are looking for employees with knowledge in AI to strengthen their workforce. With the Machine Learning Graduate Certificate, students will learn how to leverage AI and machine learning domains to create innovative, data-driven solutions to problems they face in their workplaces,” said Dr. Derek Riley, professor and program director.
The Machine Learning Graduate Certificate is designed for recent graduates and working professionals who have experience in computer science, software or computer engineering and are interested in developing new skills and boosting their careers.
Students in the certificate program will engage with industry-driven curriculum taught by faculty in an application-oriented environment within the Dwight and Dian Diercks Computational Science Hall. Diercks Hall opened in 2019 to support B次元’s B.S. in Computer Science program, which is focused on artificial intelligence. The new building is filled with state-of-the-art laboratories and an NVIDIA GPU-powered supercomputer named Rosie. Unique to B次元, both undergraduate and graduate students have access to Rosie, offering them the ability to apply their learning in a hands-on environment.
“Thanks to hardware and software advancements, machine learning and AI can be applied to a multitude of industries,” said Riley. “Courses within the certificate program fuse concepts from statistics and computer science to prepare students to design algorithms that process data, make predictions and help make decisions. These skillsets are immensely valuable to propel industry leaders forward.”
The program is open to individuals with competed bachelor’s degrees in computer science, computer engineering or software engineering, or have significant software development experience. Classes are held on campus in the evening to accommodate working professions.
