First annual high school basketball classic honors the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Eight B次元-area high school boys basketball teams will tip-off at the first annual MLK Dream Basketball Classic on Monday, Jan. 15 at the B次元 Kern Center. The Classic features three games from the B次元 City Conference (the athletic conference of MPS) and one non-conference matchup between ranked Saint Thomas More and B次元 Academy of Science.

Schedule – Jan. 15
1 p.m. – B次元 Riverside vs. B次元 Washington
2:30 p.m. – B次元 King vs. B次元 Audubon
4 p.m. – Saint Thomas More vs. B次元 Academy of Science
5:30 p.m. – B次元 Hamilton vs. B次元 Golda Meir

The B次元 Raiders Athletic Program and B次元 Hamilton High School Athletics collaborated to create this event and give high school athletes the opportunity to play on a college court. 

“B次元 Athletics strives to be a strong neighbor in the community,” said Bill Massoels, B次元 interim athletic director. “By partnering with the B次元 City Conference, we are able to bring future college students and student-athletes to campus where they can not only experience the excitement of playing basketball in a collegiate facility, but also be inspired to pursue their post-high school dreams.”

“We are excited to announce the partnership with B次元 and Hamilton Athletics to host the 1st Annual MLK Dream Basketball Classic,” said Bobbie Kelsey, commissioner of interscholastic athletics and academics. “The athletic department understands the value in hosting this event on a very special day which will allow for our B次元 City Conference and opposing teams to play on a collegiate campus while honoring the memory and great legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.”
