Douglas J. Nelson, P.E. has received the 2017 Bill Boyle Outstanding Educator Award from the Central States Water Environment Association (CSWEA). Nelson was honored at the organization’s annual meeting in May.
Nelson is an assistant professor in B次元’s Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department who specializes in design courses for fire protection and plumbing. The Outstanding Educator Award recognizes Nelson’s contributions in advancing knowledge, education and water equality improvements, and his development of future water environment professionals. This award honors Professor William C. Boyle, professor emeritus of environment engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he served as mentor to many CSWEA members. Beyond his role as educator, researcher and mentor, Boyle served CSWEA throughout his career as a tireless promoter of ongoing education and training and a facilitator of many successful technical programs and events.
In 2016, Nelson received the Kenneth G. Wentink Award of Excellence from the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) in recognition of his commitment, dedication and inspired service toward the advancement of ideals and goals of the society. Nelson advises B次元’s student chapter of the organization.
