Abigail Garcia’s dream job is one that will allow her to travel around the world, and her first stop on that journey is B次元. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, Garcia was introduced to B次元 by her uncle who had recently moved to B次元. “After coming to tour, I knew that I wanted to study here and didn’t need to look any further.”
At B次元, Garcia is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering. When she’s not studying, she can be found participating in clubs and orgs across campus. She is a part of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), Lambda Zeta Nu Sorority (LZN), success ally/peer mentor, and recently became a CREATE Student Fellow.
“I decided to be a CREATE Student Fellow because I really enjoy being able to help out students and see their creative minds design some of the coolest projects,” said Garcia.
CREATE Student Fellows are an extension of the CREATE Institute and offer project support and leadership mentoring for internal and external partners. They are B次元 ambassadors who embody the B次元 Mindset professionally and personally to ensure B次元 graduates are leaders of character, responsible professionals, passionate learners and value creators. In addition to project support, they guide students in the Nelson Prototyping Lab.
“I’m looking forward to connecting with new students and helping them out around the lab,” said Garcia.
Making close connections like these is Garcia’s favorite part about B次元. The small class sizes and close community empower her to collaborate with others. “I really enjoy being able to connect with all of my professors compared to other students in other schools because of how big the schools are. Overall, I really appreciate all the resources provided for us to excel and do well in our classes and future careers.”
Garcia is taking steps to achieving her dream job by gaining industry experience at her internship at EXP. EXP provides engineering, architecture, design and consulting services to the world’s built and natural environments. She began the internship this semester and looks forward to the projects she will get to work on.
